Boy band star JB Gill hopes his new role as a presenter on the BBC show Songs of Praise will help young fans think about God.

JB has turned to farming since the split of JLS – which shot to fame after he and his pals Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes became runners up on the X Factor in 2008. The singing heartthrob was recently appointed as a presenter on Songs of Praise and said he hoped that his appearance would attract a new audience and make them think about the Christian faith. He said: “Lots of people watch Songs of Praise, especially with it being on a Sunday afternoon. It’s that time that most of the family are in, winding down from the weekend and getting ready for the coming week.

“Obviously I’ve got a younger fan-base from my time in JLS, so hopefully they will be watching and consider my faith! Some of them may have young families as I do, and the thought of having the whole family engaging in the show as well as the older generation, is great.” He added: “There are lots of misconceptions about religion; people feel like they have to go somewhere and do certain things to experience God, I think it should be more accessible than that.” JB explained that his Christian faith was encompassed in everything he did and that he considered that before he commits to an event, a job or anything that would take up his time.
