The chief operating officer behind the massive Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer has revealed the miracle in his own life.
The 170ft wall near Birmingham will be built using one million bricks, each representing individual prayers that have been answered for people across the world.
Now the project’s COO, Dave Silber, has shared the story of his own answered prayer, saying it has been submitted to be one of the bricks for the wall.
Silber, now 53, went for a routine medical as a teenager and was told he had advanced, degenerative scoliosis in his back and would be confined to a wheelchair for life.
“My parents were full of faith and prayed every day for a miracle,” he said. “One day I turned up to the hospital and they said the condition had gone. I couldn’t understand it. It was the moment I decided to follow Jesus.”
The wall, which will be larger than the White House and slightly taller than Niagara Falls, has now passed 14,000 backers.
Silber said: “The Eternal Wall is something else. We are thinking big; we want to celebrate all God has done. This will be one of the biggest Christian landmarks out there and become the largest database of hope stories in the world.”
Some of the answers to prayer involve Christmas:
Answered prayer #11603
“God has answered my prayers for financial needs over the years, again and again, but an early answer still stands out. One of four siblings, my father left us and the first Christmas we had very little food and no coal. My mother and we four children prayed, on the 23rd December. On the morning of the 24th there was a box of groceries on the doorstep and at tea time that day my mother’s sister came with another box of food, including a chicken. She said the Lord told her we needed it. Then the coal man made a delivery paid for by our father. That was when I first realised that my Heavenly Father would never let me down, and he never has.”
Answered prayer #10839
“When I was about six years old my family moved to Spain as missionaries and we didn’t have much money. When it came to Christmas my parents weren’t able to buy any presents for me and my brothers and sisters, or any food for the lunch. They went to the shops to look at the presents we had asked for and decided to pray that God would provide. Within two hours someone who hadn’t known our situation called us and gave us all the money needed.”
