Wasps fly-half and rising England candidate Jacob Umaga has revealed how his teammates played a crucial role in his finding faith in Jesus Christ.
Umaga, who comes from a dynasty of All Blacks legends, is qualified to play for England being born in Halifax and spending his entire career in the country, but has recently given his life to Jesus.
He said: “The last few weeks I’ve found faith and Jeff Toomaga-Allen and Jack Owlett, they have been really helping me.
“It’s something that has grown into me, my daily routine, pre-game and stuff like that. Me and my girlfriend [also a rugby player at Worcester Warriors] are trying to do as much as we can to keep that going.
“Christianity puts life into perspective. We’re grateful to be out here on a Saturday or Sunday playing the sport we love.
“We had a good chat the other day at a chapel about being grateful for what we’ve got.
“At the end of the day, we’re very privileged to have this. For me, it has put a lot of peace in my mind knowing that I go out and express myself with the lads and to have some fun.
“Some people have found themselves unemployed or going through terrible times, we’re absolutely grateful to be in this privileged position.”
