A Christian charity is helping transform the lives of people in Moldova by giving them support and hope that helps free them from addictions, violence and the threat of sex trafficking.
Heartcry for Change has partnered with other organisations in the country to build ‘Princess Academies’. At the academies, girls are rescued from poverty and abuse and given a secure environment where they can learn life skills, how to be part of a community and have an education.
“It’s been incredible to see what Jesus has been doing through these academies,” said Rachel Hickson, founding director of Heartcry for Change.
“Moldova was targeted as a sex trafficking centre for young girls, but we love partnering with other organisations to reverse that curse.”
Heartcry for Change also supports the training of these young women in business enterprise.
By setting up tailoring and bakery businesses and a second-hand wedding dress hire shop, the charity is offering the girls it supports a brighter future.
It also introduces them to Jesus and the Christian faith through the community and church life they see around them, and through summer camps where young people experience fun, outdoor adventures and the love of God.
The charity has also been supporting 500 vulnerable families during the winter.
