Huge vision for landmark CfaN year

An ambitious, year-long campaign of 50 African crusades is under way to celebrate 50 years of Christ for all Nations (CfaN).

The missions organisation founded by evangelist Reinhard Bonnke started the mammoth effort in Cape Town, South Africa, in February, fitting with its founder’s oft-stated dream: “From Cape Town to Cairo, Africa shall be saved!”

The anniversary-year plans represent a record-breaking gospel campaign.

CfaN UK director Luke Cartwright (inset, left, picture above) said: “We’re following Reinhard’s original vision, which was to see the whole of Africa washed with the blood of Jesus.”

Daniel Kolenda (inset, right, picture above) took over from Bonnke as CEO in 2017 – by which time CfaN had recorded 75 million salvations. He had a new vision to increase the rate of salvations.

Luke explained: “Daniel called it the ‘Decade of Double Harvest’, whereby instead of just having Reinhard or himself on a platform, we would raise up and multiply evangelists, then work with them, churches, businesses and other ministries to see 150 million documented salvation decisions by 2030.

“Daniel is very strategic and he recognises that if he can replicate something of himself or Reinhard in others, we could see much bigger things happen.”

MULTIPLICATION

The focus on multiplication will make CfaN’s challenging anniversary plans possible.

Programmes have trained more than 1,700 people to evangelise and to plan and conduct major events.

“In our workshops we teach a very simple tool – a two-minute practical gospel presentation,” said Luke. “Then we go out onto the streets.

“We go out, pair them with someone more experienced and very often we see people lead someone to Jesus for the first time. It’s life-changing.”

Crusades in Zambia last year showed what is possible.

“We did 11 crusades in 11 cities over two weeks, which is nearly double what we used to do in a year,” said Luke.

“It would have been impossible for Daniel to cover 11 cities, but we had so many amazing evangelists to stand on those platforms and lead 1.2 million people to Jesus because of multiplication.

“That’s a big part of why we’re believing it will be possible to see total salvations reach 150 million by 2030.”

Reaching 50 mass crusades in a year will be a huge achievement for CfaN, but the bigger picture is much wider and the year ahead will only be possible because of a mix of multiplication and partnership, said Luke.

“We’re working with churches, denominations and evangelists to build God’s kingdom.

“When we get to the end of the decade and 150 million people have come to Christ, it will be because different ministries worked together to share the gospel message.”
