Amanda Varty has been healed of ME and has seen God use her experience to help others.,,,
A woman who was bedridden for nine years has told how she completed a mini-marathon when God healed her of ME.
Amanda Varty was diagnosed with the debilitating condition at 30, but was finally healed of it halfway around the Dublin 10k in June 2013.
Today, her story is bringing hope and healing around the world.
After ME struck, Amanda lost her job and was on the verge of losing her home. For four years she was confined to bed and husband Steve had to spoon-feed her. Her face became swollen with painful scars as her muscles wasted away.
In despair, Amanda cried out to God.
“I begged him to help me, in absolute desperation,” she said in a video interview with Brookeborough Elim church.
Amanda longed for an instant miracle, but God had other plans.
At a church service, two people told Steve they’d heard God say, “It’s a done deal; your wife will be healed.”
“I was expecting to leap out of bed fully healed, but instead God gave me an inner knowing he would heal me no matter how impossible it looked,” she said.
Amanda and Steve trusted for their miracle. They wrote a dream list with, on top, walks, Bible college, the Great North Run and dancing together.
Then, in 2011, Amanda heard God say: “Go to church”. There, her physical healing began.
“As I was praising God I suddenly sat upright despite my wasted muscles and stayed sitting up for an hour and a half,” she said.
Back home her strength drained away, but the same thing happened the following Sunday, then for the next eight months. Then one Sunday, Amanda was able to walk around church. Another week, she was miraculously filled with energy and danced in church.
“I shoved my walking frame aside and began to dance. I felt Steve take my hand and we danced like we’d always imagined.”
Amanda experienced another miracle as she stood on the starting line of the Dublin 10k she had bravely signed up for.
“I hadn’t assumed I would be standing on the start line with my walking frame, but halfway round I handed it to Steve and continued the last 5k without it. I ran to the finish line.”
That was when God healed Amanda.
Steve and Amanda began to complete their dream list, walking on the moors, Amanda graduating from Bible college and completing the Great North Run.
Overjoyed, she asked God to use her experience to bless others and saw him answer in a wonderful way.
“A worship leader who watched me dance that night in church was moved to write a song called ‘Dance Again’. It’s been seen by more than 10.5 million people.
“I’ve had messages from people saying they were suicidal but saw the video and didn’t end their lives, and people who were instantly healed listening to the song.
“It’s amazing to see God using what I’ve been through to help others.”
