A woman who was left in a coma after being trampled by cows has told how her faith sustained her during the attack.

Pip Peacock suffered horrific injuries, including 34 breaks in her ribs, a broken collar bone, broken shoulder ligaments and serious wounds to her left leg and right knee after cows stampeded her on a walk in Sheldon, Derbyshire, in September 2019.

The former maths teacher and mother of three says her faith comforted as she thought she was about to die her as she lay on the ground after the incident.

“I put my head in hands and said Psalm 23. I was very peaceful. I really thought I was going to die, so I just lay there,” Pip told the BBC’s Life Changing podcast in October.

“I’ve been a Christian a long time and my faith is incredibly important to me. At that time when I really needed it, I was aware of God’s presence and I wasn’t afraid to go into what I believe will be a better life.”

Pip spent eight days in an induced coma, then a further two weeks in hospital, and now has 17 titanium plates holding her rib cage together.

Last September, she was named joint winner of the award for courage by the Air Ambulance Service for walking 1,000 miles to fundraise for the Derbyshire Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance crew which flew to her rescue.

As Pip was interviewed for the podcast, she had raised £6,800 for the charity.
